Why is it that my life is full of things that I never thought I would have to say. Things like, "Stop licking the sidewalk" and "Don't eat that hotdog, it's been up your brother's nose" or "Get her underwear out of your mouth!"
Well tonight I uttered another one that I didn't see comming. More due to my lack of tact or any sort of motherly compassion. I'm trying to make a dress for Emma (because every preteen has the shape of a potato and is very hard to fit). Well the dress wasn't quite working as I had liked (even with the alterations) and I had spent a good part of the day trying to get this thing made in my "spare time". Needless to say I was at my wits end when the thing wouldn't go around her in one of our fitting sessions and I told her it would never fit because she's shaped like a potato.
Uggghhh! I'm such a horrible mom. Of course (I found out) that is not the thing to say to any preteen and so was followed with "sorry dear, you are not a potato" On the inside I was laughing just at the thought that I was saying those words, and that they made sense, and that those words were making someone feel better.
It's so hard to be the mom. You have to be a lot more careful with your words when you have kids.
I think someone should write a book with all the things you never thought you would say just because you're the mom. I know I've got a chapter or two.

Haha! Meanie! =) I always have to remind my girls I'm not an octopus. They think it's funny. Amber's said it a few times now, too.
You are so funny :) - I can't wait to see this dress
I remember being at that stage where nothing fit you right and hating it! Whitney is right there with her. I have also found myself saying things I never thought I would!
I love "Stop licking the sidewalk"! I'm gonna start writing those mommy sayings down.
Your a hoot. I think you should right the book. It would be great.
So funny! Really though, the book thing is such a good idea! I would totally buy it....poor girl....ha!
