This time we went to the McClellan Zoo.
Not so much a zoo as it is Mike's collection of animals.
When we first got there. Mike's wife Angie gave the girls a bottle and let them bottle feed a baby deer that was hit by a car and is now recovering at their zoo.
They all had so much fun petting and feeding the deer, rabbits and goats.
We got a bucket of food for $5 and then we were allowed to thow the food over the fence at the animals. The animals got very excited even though Ava was a poor shot and hit the broad side of a few cows. The camel above has a very dog-like posture awaiting his food and went running after it when the food hit his side of the fence. Speaking of fences, I was very impressed that the zoo was equiped with not only 1 but 2 fences to protect the patrons. Daeli made it past the first barrier once and I was very glad for the second 12' fence.

Even the pottys were cute. It wasn't a hole in the ground kind of out house. There were normal looking toilets inside. Thank goodness.

Too Cute!

Now ON TO THE SNAKE!
Let me say, that I do not like snakes. The guy who ran the zoo likes snakes and was more than eager to get them out of their cages and make us hold them. Emma loved it so I played along. Before the day was over Emma was begging for her own snake.

A white tiger in Alabama??? This place was pretty cool.
A wolf not a polar bear
This is the snake Emma wanted.
It was another great day! 85 and humid but overcast so it wasn't too hot and it also made it so all my pictures turned out. No one was squinting in any of the pics even though it was noon. We spent about 3 hours there because there really was so much to see and we just loved it.
Hogle Zoo aint got nutn on you!

Yikes! I'd be all about holding the white tiger and letting the snakes stay caged up.
Your kids aren't wierd! They love mother nature! Yay young kiddos! You go Emma!!! I love a girl who can understand snakes!
Hi Christy,
I haven't checked the blog for some time. Very cute!! I sure miss you and our fun times in Hawaii!
Eeewwww!!! A snake! You are an AWESOME mom! I would have been SPRINTING in the opposite direction, just to get away from that nasty monster. You get the Best Mom Award for that!!
I miss you too! I was going to write you a note on here this afternoon but when I saw the freaking SNAKES I was totally mad at you for posting them and not warning ME at the top that there were HUGE, SMALL and disgusting snakes below. Thanks for scarying me and probably giving me nightmares tonight! But because I love you, I hurried and scrolled down with my eyes shut this time and am now commenting... :)
Looks like you are having fun without me though! I wish we could be back yard neighbors forever! Thanks so much for helping Chaz and I out A TON while we moved. You and your family are the best. I really wish I could stop by your place every day still. (sigh)
Keep up with your blog because I want to know everything that is happening with the Young family!
