I don't want to sound like a grey haired woman complaining and remenising of grander times...BUT...After yesterday's events I was left to wonder, what happened to those good old days? The days when the police were there to help you. The days when firefighters responded to actual fires. The days when kids could run and play and enjoy being kids. The days before every kid was diognosed with ADHD and then medicated. And less significant, the days when no one called me ma'am. But I'm starting to get on a tangent...
Back to the topic. I now have a strict **Do not EVER call the MP's** policy. They only make your life harder. Because of some of Daeli's typical handiwork, Henry ended up in the van (in his car seat) with the van running and locked. How do we get him out? Call for help you say? Well, I made the mistake of calling the MP's thinking they could send one of the many patrol cars that circle my home all day long and they would "jimmy the lock" with I don't know, one of those things you use to steal a car? Aren't they trained to do these sort of things? Why yes they are but they aren't allowed to do any of them I was informed because of the liability. They are worried that they would be sued if they helped someone. Geeze! So I told them if they weren't going to help to just forget it and they said they would send someone anyway. So while Natalie's on the phone with the locksmith up pulls 3 patrol cars, 1 fire engine, and 1 ambulance. None of these vehicles were authorized to help and yet they were here. Thank Goodness! Well in the meantime the locksmith says,"we'll be there right away, 30 min". 30 Min?? Awesome, I love living in the middle of nowhere.

Natalie gave the MP's a verbal go ahead for trying to break into the car and get it unlocked so they used a wire hanger to get through the door and unroll the window. About 15 min. later the door was open and the paperwork began. Poor Natalie was out in front of my house for another hour filling out paperwork, answering questions, and waiting while the MP's got all of their information for the reports they had to fill out. Some of these critical questions included: Maiden Name, Child's social security number, Child's marital status, Natalie's weight, eye color, hair color, home of residence, and other very important things. It's a good thing that there weren't actual crimes being commited because we were tying up the entire police force at Fort Rucker with these pressing questions.
Just a fore-warning to anyone out there who thought the police were still around to help you. I'm just glad that they didn't report me for being a neglegent mother and "letting" Daeli lock Henry in the car. I just wish that I could tell my kids the same thing I learned growing up that if you're in trouble you can always talk to a police officer. Now if they're in trouble and talk to a police officer they could end up doing time in the foster care system. And stop calling me ma'am! I'm not that old!

I feel ya, sister! Refer to my post about a year ago when the same thing happened to Aidan. The difference was I was more panicked. But I remember I did have to fill out a bunch of paperwork for the cops to even TRY to get him out, which they were unable to do.
That is Awesome.....good times at the Youngs. Nothin' like making memories Ma'am. :)
I'm Natalie's older sister. Thanks for posting this. It was hilarious! I'm glad everyone survived. It drives me crazy when people call me Ma'am too. :)
Typical MPs for ya! I'm not too happy with them right now either. He said I was speeding in a school zone but I was out of the school zone! Now I have a $125.00 ticket to pay. Yikes! Someday this will make for a funny story. =)
I got pulled over by the MP's on Fort Huccuhca, and it took him 45 minutes to give me a ticket because he couldn't find the right code for not haveing a liscens plate light.
the joy of the MP's!
